Join our South East England Member Network for this event at Rogate Woods, followed by the South East England Member Network's AGM.
Rogate Woods is a 100-hectare woodland within the South Downs National Park, privately owned and managed by Bill Maynard, a forest economist with extensive international experience, particularly in South East Asia, who is now based in Kent.
The woodland contains a diverse mix of native and exotic tree species, including beech, Scots pine, Douglas fir, grand fir, several species of Eucalyptus and Nothofagus. The woods are currently being actively managed and harvested for a wide range of products, including innovative wood-based panels and other minor forest products. Ahead of the visit, attendees will receive a copy of the latest woodland management plan, providing an opportunity to review the site and identify topics of particular interest for discussion during the tour.
The woods are open to walkers and horse riders, offering an interesting example of productive forestry operating within a popular recreational landscape.
After the field visit, the South East England AGM will be held in Rogate Village Hall.
