Join us for #MembersHour on 3 September with Dr Tom Staton.

Agroforestry is increasingly promoted as a means of delivering food, fibre and environmental benefits from the same area of land. But what opportunities and trade-offs emerge when agroforestry is adopted at scale? Drawing on recent research modelling agroforestry expansion across England and Wales, this #MembersHour will explore the implications for agricultural and tree product outputs, land use and the delivery of wider environmental objectives. The session will examine how impacts vary between agroforestry systems, where opportunities and trade-offs are most pronounced, and what the findings mean for farmers, foresters and policymakers. Members will gain insights into the production impacts of agroforestry at scale, opportunities for integrating trees into productive landscapes, and the challenges that must be addressed if agroforestry is to move beyond a niche land use.
